Holiday Morning Work for First Graders

Happy Monday, Friends!

I actually just had to look on the calendar to make sure it WAS indeed Monday. Oh, Sweet Summertime, I hope you last forever!

In the midst of walks at the park, planning a little summer getaway, dog-sitting, and sleeping-in (ha!), I have been getting a little work done here and there. I recently updated my Back to School: Friends in First packet (I’ll be sharing all the details with all of you later on this week. I’m so excited about the updates!) and JUST FINISHED a collaborative project with the sweet and simply WONDERFUL Tracy Tegeler from Creekside Teacher Tales.

Tracy and I have grown (thisclose) since we began teaching and blogging together. She is my go-to girl for just about EVERYTHING!  We are CONSTANTLY brainstorming teaching and blogging ideas with each other. It is so refreshing to work with someone who is as passionate and energetic about teaching as I am. So, it was just NATURAL that we decided to collaborate on a project together – and it was a total blast!

Together, Tracy and I created Fall Themed Holiday Morning Work that we plan on using this upcoming school year. Tracy used all of her second grade guru-knowledge and created the 2nd grade version and I created the first grade version.

In this Fall Themed Holiday Morning Work Packet, I’ve included 5 pages for each of the following holidays:

-Back to School
-Fall
-Columbus Day
-Fire Safety Week
-Halloween
-Thanksgiving

(Just a note: We know Back to School isn’t ACTUALLY a holiday, but it SHOULD be. Ha! We felt funny NOT including it because it’s such a huge part of the year for kiddos and it deserves to be recognized.)

The activities included involve reading, phonics, writing, math, and, of course, LOTS of fun! We created this with the intention of using these for morning work; however, these pages could be used during a variety of other times as well. It is up to you how you choose to use them! That’s the beauty of it!

Because we worked together closely on this project, the 1st grade and 2nd grade versions cover the same topics, which means you could use Tracy’s packet to differentiate for those high-fliers in your first grade classroom. I already know of a few kids who would benefit from Tracy’s pack.

See how the first and second grade versions are similar, but Tracy’s is slightly more challenging?

We are already in the beginning stages of creating these morning work packets for winter, spring, and summer too! Woo hoo!
